I'm John Batchel with my good colleague, Gene Marks, small business columnist for The Guardian,

0:05.0

for the Philadelphia Inquirer, writing at the Hill, writing at other distinguished publications,

0:10.0

and publishing his articles eventually on his medium channel.

0:14.0

And this one captures my imagination.

0:17.0

Three major reasons why Donald Trump's second term will benefit my business and

0:23.0

increased profits. Okay, Gene, the stage is yours. All right. And I always start out these

0:28.0

conversations. I wrote this for Entrepreneur magazine. And I always start this conversation out saying,

0:32.9

his major parts of his tax cuts and job act of 2017 expire, which would mean a big bump in taxes,

1:13.9

not only for me, but for many small businesses, the qualified business income tax deduction is for

1:18.7

pass-throughs. That's a 20% deduction on income. That would have gone away. Standard deduction

1:24.6

individuals would have decreased. Rates themselves would have increased so the fact

1:30.0

that that's not the case yeah he does have control of congress it is it is very likely improbable

1:35.0

that that most of these big provisions are going to be extended even made permanent and uh you know

1:40.5

listen i'm happy about that because the less i pay in taxes, you know, the better.

1:45.3

I just, that's what it is.
