Summary

In this throwback episode of Girlfriends, we’re revisiting a topic that resonates with so many women—hospitality. Whether you love opening your home to others or it feels like a stress-inducing performance, this conversation is for you.

We’re not talking about Pinterest-perfect dinner parties or flawless tablescapes. This is about real hospitality—connection, community, and creating space for meaningful conversations. I share practical tips, encouragement, and mindset shifts that can help you become more confident and joyful about inviting others in.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

* Why “entertaining” isn’t the goal—and what to aim for instead

* How to make hospitality a habit (even when life feels chaotic)

* Ways to host without breaking your budget or your back

* What to say when someone asks, “What can I bring?”

* The single most powerful way to make your guests feel seen and loved

Whether you’ve been hosting for years or are just starting to consider it, this is your gentle nudge to open your door and your heart.

💌 Have your own tip or story about hospitality? Reach out and share—I’d love to hear it.

Hey, girlfriend, thank you so much for being here for this next throwback episode of the Girlfriend's Podcast.

So I told you last week, my daughter

0:23.2

Gabby is getting married in a week at the time that I'm recording this. By the time you're hearing

0:27.8

this, she will be married. So please say a little prayer for David and Gabby as they are launching

0:33.2

their life together. But in the days and weeks heading up to the wedding, life is just jam-packed

0:39.3

and there's a lot going on. So I didn't really have the time for all my precious plans for

0:43.9

recording the podcast and having interviews and that sort of thing. And so I thought this is a good

0:49.6

opportunity for me to highlight some past content here from the Girlfriend's Podcast.

0:53.6

And let me tell you,

0:54.2

going through the archives and seeing which episodes are popular, I don't spend a lot of time

0:58.8

doing that, going back and checking the stats on episodes. But I wanted to see, like,

1:02.8

what are ones that really resonated with people? And that was a lot of fun to do. There's so much

1:07.6

content. There's so much that I've shared here through the years and that we've talked about together and special guests that I've had on the show. And it's been just such a ton of fun going through and just looking at all of that content. And what I decided to share with you here today is this episode about getting better at hospitality. And this is such a perennial topic for us as women. We like to talk about

1:28.4

Mary and Martha. We like to talk about sometimes our struggles and building community and just

1:33.1

having people over. So many of us have obstacles in our life to that and ways that we make that

1:38.3

more complicated than it needs to be. It's really an emotional topic for many of us.

1:43.3

And a lot of the emotions related to it go all the way

1:46.8

back to our childhood for some of us and this deep sense of being seen and being known and inviting

1:53.1

people into your space. It can be a very vulnerable thing to do and yet that's where real meaning is

1:58.8

found in relationships is in that kind of vulnerability, inviting people into your space.

2:04.1

So I thought, this is an important one to do.
