Can you and I be honest with each other tonight, just for a moment?

Have you ever read a Bible verse about a promise from God in whispered, I hope that's

true?

Or when was the last time you read that God would supply your every need according to

his riches in glory and Christ?

And in a moment of desperation, found yourself wondering if it was true.

I know I have, have you?

Unfortunately, you have plenty of good companies tonight, and you're not alone.

I pray that as we spend time together, reflecting on God's word, that you will feel the comfort

of his many guarantees.

And I pray you'll hear God's soothing voice during our time together, soaking in his promises.

So begin now to close your eyes without effort, even feel your breath falling soft and slow.

I know your mind may drift, and that's okay.

I realize distracting thoughts may compete with the sound of his voice, but don't struggle

to fight against the noise, and certainly don't judge yourself.

Instead, let any distractions drift off, and listen as the Holy Spirit guides you back

into the presence of the Holy Father and the Son.

As we begin, lean into the Lord as I whisper a prayer of hope from the Book of Common

Prayer, an evening collect for the presence of Christ.

Look down, O Lord, from your heavenly throne, and illumine this night with your celestial

brightness, that by night, as by day, your people make glorify your holy name through

Christ Jesus, our Lord, and keep watched, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch,
