The question today is how did you sleep last night?

Terrible. Terrible.

Terrible, okay, I'm so sorry.

Hopefully this is going to be a game-changing, life-changing message today for you.

And for all of us who are struggling to sleep a little bit better.

Because when we're singing this well-known Christmas hymn, we get down to the end of the first verse,

which says, silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright, round yon virgin, mother and child, holy infant, so tender and mild, sleep in heavenly peace.

The crazy thing about this is there was no peace.

We have a teenage girl who has been brought into the story by God's choosing. She and her

husband now are having to convince everyone in their world that the Holy Spirit has conceived in her a child.

These conversations are not easy conversations to have with your friends and your family

and your neighbors.

Not only that, but she has ridden now on a donkey to this town where they've got to register

with the government who's in control of the area where they live,

and the babies come in now in a cave and a manger.

There is no peace in this story.

As soon as the government authorities here that a king has been born, an edict is

declared and Jesus' life is under threat from day one. There is no peace. but yet somehow Indus manger is a promise of peace.
