Tell us about The Cancer on the Bell.

Thanks for having me on Tom.

What we are seeing across this country is a widespread growth of Republican minority rule.

You are seeing this through Jerry Mandering, through the 50 million of us that live in

a state where democratic candidates win more votes, but republicans hold power anyway.

We are seeing this in the US Senate in the Electoral College on the US Supreme Court.

And the point that I want to make in this piece is that this started before Donald Trump,

but will not go away if Donald Trump is defeated, and that this is the result of decades

of Republican political strategizing and matmaking and rule-rigging and voter suppression that,

in many ways, it starts with Jerry Mandering, and then it builds into voter suppression,

and then it is reinforced by conservative justices that they have packed the courts

with over all of this time, and it has placed us in a very dark spot.

And what I try to do in this piece is to tell the story of this over the last 15 years.
