to another slave political gab fest. We're finally back all together. But one of us has a new title, and that's David Plotz, is now acting editor of Slate for the summer. And so... Now we can live in fear of him. It's true. And I think the... I'm not the editor of acting. Yeah. I'm the acting editor.

And I think the epaulets look very good on you.

And he has this really cool hat.

And he put new stripes on his robes, too, just like Justice Rehnquist.

And that is the familiar voice of Emily Bazelon.

And I am not in California for the first Republican debate the way I was in Columbia,

South Carolina last week for the first Democratic debate.

It's just too far to go and it just didn't work out.

So we're all together and we feel good about that, but we're going to start with the war vote

this week in the House and the Senate sent a bill to the President, putting a

timeline on withdrawing troops from Iraq. The President vetoed it, as we all expected he would.

And now we're at the position where the House and the Senate and the President are negotiating.

And it appears Democrats are going to make this distinction between a timeline to end the war

and benchmarks to end the war. Which of the two of you want to jump this distinction between a timeline to end the war and
