Summary

In this episode, John does a feelings check-in. He talks about aging, struggling with fight or flight, feeling uneasy with safety and stableness, feeling like he's going through the motions, his upcoming Miserable F*ck's retreat for men, and more.

Roughly ten minutes of self help in a shot glass. If you're looking for a wine glass, you've come to the wrong place. Marriage family therapist and best-selling author, John Kim, shares his life and love revelations as well as insights from his sessions. He pulls the curtain back and documents his journey as a therapist but more importantly, as a human being.

Hi, my name is John Kim. I'm a therapist who went through his own

0:04.3

rebirth many years ago and I've been documenting my journey ever since sharing my life

0:08.9

lessons and revelations. I believe in casual or clinical with you instead of at you. I come unrehearsed on purpose

0:16.2

because self-help doesn't have to be so complicated.

0:21.2

I haven't done a my fucking feelings episode in a long time and so on today's

0:28.1

episode I thought I would just talk I would do a check-in I hold space for many people to check in and today I'm going to check in.

0:39.8

So just a warning or not a warning what's the word just to let you know where this episode is headed.

0:50.0

I also love going into things unscripted. I mean of course I always I always have

1:01.1

an intention and I tell people I throw boomerangs and that eventually

1:08.5

it will come back, that I will have a point. Today I think I'm going to throw a beach ball instead of a boomer in because I don't know if I'm going to come back or where it's going to go.

1:21.0

So I think the first thing is I woke up this morning and it was

1:29.0

1:42.8

And so we thought it was smart to buy a bed where like this mattress pulls out from the bottom.

1:49.5

And the point of that is, you know, if she has sleepovers us one day but right now she's almost

1:55.4

for and she's coming into our room every night and if you have kids you know what I'm

1:59.7

talking about so we put her to bed I don't know know, around sevenish, and then, you know,

2:03.7

around midnight she comes into our room and she sleeps like a mad person. She sleeps

2:11.8

sideways. She sleeps sideways. She sleeps like the arms of a clock, right? Like every few hours her entire body rotates and so she takes up a circular space. Does that make sense? Like she wouldn't fit in a sleeping bag because she's constantly turning like a clock and so that's half of the bed and we have a king-sized bed which means

2:41.2

me or my partner has to go one of us and so I when she comes in I go into the her

2:46.4

room and I sleep on the trundle it's just ironic that she comes into our room

2:50.6

sleeps on my side of the bed and then I go into her baby room and

2:55.0

sleep on the little trundle and I guess my point in saying this is I haven't
