Thank you. Hello, everyone, and welcome to the sister wives professor. My name is Dr. Adam. I am a professor of interpersonal and family communication at the University of in the United States. And among other things, I am a sister wives follower. I don't know if you can call me a sister wives fan anymore. I don't know.

I certainly follow the show as I have for many, many years at this point. But we'll get into all that

later on. Real quick, a little bit of backstory on me. I have been watching sister wives since. Oh gosh, I want to say

2011, I actually, funnily enough, started binging the show, which was only a season or two,

I believe at the time during my master's when I was working on my master's degree. I had a lot

of time at that point in my life, other than writing my master's thesis and whatnot.

And so I've followed the show ever since then.

I've seen every episode at least once, usually multiple times, followed every season

since then as they have come out.

And I have a lot to say about the show.

And so I'm hoping that this will be an entertaining and interesting and hopefully informative

podcast from not just my personal

insight, but folding in some more academic stuff without being boring. That's my goal. So I want

to talk to you today, of course, about the very first episode of Sister Wives, Meet Cody and the Wives.

So one of the things that I really

want to do is include some insight from communication concepts that I'm familiar with from my

research and from my teaching. And so some of the things I might talk about are nonverbal communication

behaviors, presentation of the self relationship dynamics, family dynamics, things like that.

I'm also going to try to keep you entertained as best I can.

So this is not to be taken too seriously, of course.
