Welcome to 95 Mac Daily for Thursday, February 12, 26. I'm your host, Chance Miller.

0:09.4

Leading off today, despite inking a deal with Google to use Gemini AI as the brains behind the

0:14.8

upgraded Siri, Apple is reportedly facing internal challenges in getting the final product ready for primetime.

0:22.6

Apple first announced a more capable version of Siri at WWDC in 2024, but now Bloomberg reports

0:29.9

on delays that could stretch this launch into iOS 27 this fall.

0:35.5

Bloomberg says that after planning to include the new capabilities in iOS 26.4, which was

0:41.1

slated to launch in March, Apple is now working to spread those features out over future versions.

0:47.4

This would mean possibly postponing at least some features until iOS 26.5 and iOS 26.7, which comes out in September.

0:58.0

Bloomberg notes that while Apple hadn't promised a ship date publicly more specific than this year,

1:03.8

the company had been eyeing iOS 26.4 around March as the goal. One feature especially likely

1:10.7

to slip is the expanded ability for Siri to

1:13.6

tap in to personal data. This would give Siri access to everything on your iPhone so you could

1:19.6

ask it highly personalized questions and it would be able to find the answer for you. The report also

1:25.6

says that voice-based control of in-app actions is running behind.

1:30.1

The reasoning for the delays is that testing inside Apple recently uncovered fresh problems with

1:35.8

the software. For example, Apple's voice assistant doesn't properly process queries or can take

1:41.6

too long to handle requests.

1:50.7

Testers also have reported accuracy issues, as well as a bug that causes Siri to cut users off when they're speaking too quickly. So the three features we were expecting as part of iOS 26.4

1:56.7

were personal context, in-app actions, and on-screen awareness.

2:01.8

Based on this reporting from Bloomberg, personal context and in-app actions are two features likely delayed.

2:08.6

This leaves on-screen awareness as the one feature presumably still on-track to launch as part of iOS 26.4.

2:16.8

Next up today, fraudulent streaming is a long-running problem in the music business.
