What a conversation with Peter Navarro.

He and I have known each other for decades.

He put out a book, and I think it was 1994, that was earth-shaking, a really

aggressive book about U.S. Chinese and relationships, which, you know, began his career

of trade in China. This is a professor at the University of California, Irvine. The way I

construct these interviews is understanding that I'm not the expert. I went to our

Eric Wasson writing with Alicia Diaz, but Eric Watson this morning and Josh Wingrove covering the White

House. And they gave me immediate perspective on the emotion of the politics in this crazy news flow we're having on tariffs,

on NAFTA and all that followed it and on trade.

Here is Peter Navarro on the future of what years ago we knew as NAFTA.

USMCA has some significant flaws in it, and it's going to be re-evaluated in July.

The great Jameson Greer, our U.S. Trade Representative, will be taking the lead on that.

But nothing ever happens in the White House without the commander in chief, particularly on trade.

So as the boss says, let's see what happens.
