Welcome to the Finding Joy in Your Home Podcast. I am your host, Jamie Valmay, and this is the podcast where we blend deeply theological topics with thoroughly practical application, all for God's glory.

Hey friends, welcome back to the Finding Joy in Your Home podcast. Today, I'm going to be doing another listener requested topic and I get asked this a

0:23.2

ton and that is simplifying and minimizing your house practically with a large family.

0:29.6

So this is a big topic because we did just minimize down. We actually were living in a small

0:34.2

house. We lived in a 1500 square foot house which for a family of nine is pretty small. And we are now living in like 300 square feet, something like that, living in an

0:42.7

RV, fifth wheel. People are like, what? But this is actually our second time living in an RV

0:49.3

as a family. And we actually love it. We're really, really happy to be here. And there's a lot of blessing that comes

0:57.1

with simplifying and minimizing, but it can be hard. And so I did, I've had a lot of questions this

1:02.5

summer of how do you decide how to pare down, what to pair down. Some of it, I kind of feel like I don't

1:08.3

really have a, there's no five step program for me.

1:12.1

But I'm going to share, well, actually I have five steps for you.

1:14.8

I have five tips that I'm going to share on kind of what that process has looked like and some things I've learned from pairing down.

1:24.1

So when you simplify down enough to live in an RV, you do realize that there's so much

1:30.8

in a house. There's so much that you gather over time that you don't need. So, I mean, we just went from

1:36.7

our whole garage being like stuffed to the gills. And then our whole house, like, simplifying that down to the RV. Now we do have a

1:46.6

storage unit. We do have stuff that like eventually we want eventually in a house. I wouldn't

1:51.3

necessarily want to live. I wouldn't want to live this simplistic for the rest of my life.

1:56.1

But for a season for the time being, it's great. And there is a lot about simplifying a lot less cleaning

2:02.3

time a lot less clutter um there are some things that are definitely a very real blessing a lot less

2:09.0

laundry craziness all of that so we're just i'm going to jump in these are kind of random um but this is

2:15.6

what i this is what i thought through. And in a little while,

2:19.1

you'll hear from our sponsors for today's episode. We have Mosh and Trawla. For me, like I said,
