Welcome to the Finding Joy in Your Home Podcast. I am your host, Jamie Valmay, and this is the podcast where we blend deeply theological topics with thoroughly practical application, all for God's glory.

Hey ladies, welcome back to my podcast. Today is a listener requested topic. I have been asked this so many times recently. And so I thought,

0:24.6

even though we're not actually making progress on this yet, this would be a really fun topic

0:29.7

today. So I'm going to be talking about our future homesteading goals and our future dreams.

0:34.9

I've got a lot to say about this. so I'm going to try to keep it short.

0:42.7

But this is something I have been asked a lot. And I have talked about this a lot in the past,

0:47.6

but I haven't really talked about it much in the last probably year or two. But it is something that's always kind of sizzling in the back burner for Jason and I. And we have taken kind of a

0:52.8

roundabout way of getting to our homes getting goals. And a big part of

0:58.0

that is because we have relocated from California. Jason and I both grew up our entire lives in

did travel full time around the United States for two years. A big part of that was looking for where we wanted to move to. And so we did travel full-time around the United States for two

1:12.2

years. Part of a big part of that was looking for where we wanted to relocate to. And a big part of it is

1:17.5

we just wanted to see the country. We were not in a super big hurry to get completely settled yet.

1:23.1

Then we lived in a rental house in Oklahoma for two years, which was originally going to be a year,

1:30.3

ended up being two years. It was actually amazing. And so obviously we were not making huge goals.

1:36.1

If you want to think of homesteading as like acreage and cows, we weren't making progress in that

1:41.6

necessarily. However, we did hone and work on a lot of homesteading

1:46.0

goals while we lived in the suburbs in our rental house. Let me tell you what. If you have dreams and

1:51.4

goals of homesteading, I mean, whatever that kind of looks like for you, you know, I just look at

1:55.7

homesteading as like, even just learning how to can is a homesteading skill. Um, but a hobby farm or just even having chickens or just becoming a little bit more self-sufficient,

2:05.4

whatever you want to call it, because sometimes people think homesteading means you 100% live

2:09.2

off the land and the farm is your full-time income.
