Summary

In this week's show, in addition to hormones and grocery budgets, we are talking about some simple ways to grow closer to God. As we read in James, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." (James 4:8) So how do we do that? Well, I don't think it needs to be as complicated as we sometimes make it.

Girlfriends, episode number 80. Simple ways to grow closer to God.

0:08.8

Hello and welcome to girlfriends. I'm Danielle Bean. I'm a wife and a mom and I'm on a

0:15.2

mission to help you know your worth as a woman so you can find peace, balance, and joy in family living. This week we're talking

0:22.8

about food budgets, hormones, and some easy ways to focus on growing in your relationship with God.

0:28.6

It's time to get started. Here we go.

0:44.7

Hey, girlfriends. How are you? Welcome to episode number 80. I can't believe this is the 80th episode I'm recording. It doesn't feel like it's been that long that I've been doing this, but cool.

0:50.3

I think that's a cool accomplishment. I'm thrilled. So number 80, how are you? How was your week? I have been

0:59.1

hormonal. Sorry, but it's true. And I think it's good for us as girlfriends to be honest about some of

1:07.5

these struggles we go through chemically throughout our lives because it's been my

1:12.8

experience that whether you're a mom or not, but especially if you're a mom, hormone fluctuations

1:19.0

are a part of the female existence and it's something that we all struggle with, some of us more

1:24.0

than others, and we struggle with in different ways, perhaps. And I'm finding at this

1:30.0

stage in my life, it's a little crazy. It was crazy as a teenager. It's crazy as a pregnant mom.

1:36.7

It's crazy as a nursing mom, postpartum mom. It's crazy as a 45-year-old mom. I don't know exactly what's going on, but I do know I'm hormonal.

1:46.9

So the way I know is getting really angry with some of my family members, mostly my poor

1:55.8

husband, unfairly, and I'm needing to apologize. And this isn't something I'm in the habit of doing.

2:03.9

Like this past weekend, I was a jerk and it's not like me to be like that in our relationship

2:11.8

and I felt terrible about it and it was really a struggle for me. I realized after the fact just how mean I was and that it's not

2:21.9

who I want to be. And yeah, we can blame hormones, girls. We can do that. And for sure that's a

2:28.1

factor, but we're still responsible for our behavior, you know, unless you're psychotic and,

2:33.7

you know, need to be hospitalized. We're responsible for overcoming behavior, you know, unless you're psychotic and, you know, need to be hospitalized.

2:36.1

We're responsible for overcoming some of those challenges and obstacles toward happy, healthy
