Last week, I spoke about the courageous women who followed Jesus to the cross and the tomb.

This week, we're going to look at the opposite kind of woman.

The silly woman, Paul describes in 2 Timothy 3. In this passage, Paul is warning Timothy to beware the dangerous times that

produce ungodly men. He spends five verses describing these men, and it's men like this that make the times perilous

because they are seeking to corrupt and lead people astray.

Here are the verses.

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient

to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving,

slanders, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty,

lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying its power,

and from such people turn away.

Well, I'm sure this was absolutely accurate in Paul's Day, but it sure sounds like our day, doesn't it?

It's a great description of our culture today, and we live in dangerous times, perilous times. Men are not

any different now without Christ than they were then. Notice Paul's summary command following his

description, from such people turn away. Turn your back on them. Do not be friends. Do not listen to them. Don't read their stuff.

Don't be affected or influenced. And if you don't turn away now, it will only be a minute before

you're completely drawn in. Never think you can simply drift along. Now to the silly women. Let's look at some of their

characteristics. Versus six and seven, for of this sort are those who creep into households and make
