Hey everyone, this is Jillian and I am here with my friend Brittany. Hey, Brittany. Hey, Jillian.

0:17.0

Welcome to Sidebar where we're going to be chatting about court junkie episodes, other cases we're

0:22.4

following and basically all things true crime. All right, and so today's show we're going to

0:27.8

discuss some behind the scenes info from the Thai Chan case, Sandra Melgar, Laurie McConnell,

0:34.1

and Kale Fleishauer cases. And we're going to get some updates on cases covered in the past,

0:39.2

like a case with Alexis Murphy and Joel Guy Jr. And we'll talk about the cases that we're

0:44.1

currently accessing over, which I know we're both very excited about this segment today.

0:48.4

And we'll talk about the murder of Kevin Giants. Jillian was able to get an interview with

0:53.6

somebody from the Yale Daily News, who happens to be her cousin. And then we'll talk about some

listener submissions on how they knew that they were court junkies. So we talked about this

Office left for Arizona on a work trip after a night filled with drinking and arguing. Only one

1:29.2

would return home alive. So ultimately, Thai Chan was tried twice for the murder of Jeremy Martin,

1:35.9

both ending in Miss Trials. And Chan maintained his innocent, he claimed it was self-defense.

1:42.2

So Jillian, I'm going to just ask you right off the bat. Was this self-defense in your opinion?

1:48.7

In my opinion, it's hard to believe his story of self-defense from where I'm sitting. I just

1:57.0

don't know that his actions bit his story, the fact that he chased him, the victim ran into the

2:04.4

elevator and ultimately went down to the lobby. So it kind of suggests that he was running away

2:10.9

from Thai Chan. I was a bit mixed on this one, but definitely leaning more towards a guilty verdict.

2:18.1

Having said that, I'm not sure that, because we've talked in the past before about whether you
