Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast. Today we're talking about an

0:06.6

essential micronutrient that your plants need that you may be forgetting about. Now if you haven't already seen it there is

0:16.2

quite an awesome article on the site about plant nutrients and it goes over

0:20.0

every different

0:25.0

essential macro and micro nutrients are covered there

0:29.0

but today we're going to talk about sulfur.

0:32.0

So sulfur. So sulfur is again it's an essential micronutrient and if your

0:39.0

plants don't have it they they cannot survive, it's typically a rare deficiency because plants don't need much of it and

1:38.0

If you're going to use sulfate fertilizers in the spring,

1:41.0

1:45.0

It's best to use sulfate and not elemental sulfur because elemental sulfur needs to be used as basically a finely ground powder that's hard to apply and

1:55.0

is not very water soluble so it's just not the best form for plants to absorb

2:00.0

they're going to use it in the sulfate form anyways.

2:03.0

One thing that you can do is do a nitrogen and sulfate combination fertilizer

2:09.0

because oftentimes if your plant is deficient in sulfur it's probably deficient in nitrogen as well.

2:16.0

So that is a quick little episode on side dressing with sulfur.
