Lawmakers are another step closer to ending the government shutdown.

Earlier this morning, the House Rules Committee voted 8 to 4 along party lines to advance the Senate package to reopen the government.

Now, it's worth noting that the panel didn't adopt any amendments during the seven-hour meeting, including those extending the Enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies.

The package will next go to the full House for a procedural vote, which could happen this

evening, before moving to vote on the final passage of the bill.

Meanwhile, the more than 40 million Americans who receive SNAP food benefits are stuck in limbo,
