I am Stephanie Ruhl, and it is day 253 of the second Trump administration,

and it was a very, very busy day of meetings over at the White House. First, the president hosted

his Israeli counterpart, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to unveil a peace proposal for Gaza. It is a 20-point

framework to end the fighting and bring hostages home.

Netanyahu supports the plan, but Hamas has not agreed to any of the terms.

And the president made it clear that Israel would have the full backing of the United States

to destroy Hamas if the plan falls through.

Then President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance sat down with

congressional leaders of both parties as they try to avoid a government shutdown. Potentially,

funding is set to run out tomorrow at midnight, but so far there does not seem to be any

progress. Democrats want to keep Obamacare subsidies, but Republicans are clear. They think it's time to scale it back.

It was a frank and direct discussion with the President of the United States and Republican leaders,

but significant and meaningful differences remain. Democrats are fighting to protect the health care of the American people.

It's purely a hostage-taking exercise on the part of the Democrats.
