And many times on this program I've talked about something called the uncanny valley.

And it's something that happens when you see like for example artificial intelligence artificial characters in objects that are almost but not quite human-like and so when you look at them or when you interact with them, it triggers a deep sense of unease.

You feel kind of agitated or weirded out or whatever.

Objects without human-like qualities don't draw our affinity very well.

Like you take a look at industrial robots.

They don't freak you out or they don't throw you.

I mean, you're just looking at our arm moving things or something that resembles a human not quite but like you know

Boston Dynamics and their robots well when objects weekly resemble real humans like toys or stuffed animals or cartoon characters.

We find ourselves increasingly drawn to them because well we feel a sense of connection.

We think oh my gosh there's some sort of a

a human or some sort of an animal instinct that draws us like a

Yeah, we were drawn to cute little AIs or artificial intelligence animations, you know some people to give you an idea of what the

uncanny valley can be and what its potential is is we did a show a while back about dolls. We have

little Dutch creep, we have Uncle Perve, we have, you know, we have a momo in here and

you know, if you look at them from the corner of your eye, they creep you out.
