Hello and welcome to the political party.

Today's guest is Gregor Pointon, the Labour MP for Livingston, elected in Labour's

landslide of July 24.

And Gregor and I go back a long way.

We first met, as we established, early in this interview,

working on the Livingston by-election when Robin Cook died.

And we've kept in touch ever since,

and he's a very likable bloke and a very gifted politician and someone who really understands

the nuts and bolts of politics.

He was a really talented organiser, very popular for reasons.

You've come to understand during the interviews, fantastic company.

But he started out as an organiser, worked his way up to head office, then

went to work in digital organizing for Blue State Digital, who masterminded Obama's crowdfunding

campaign. So he has had experience of organizing and effectively dealing with the electorate

and understanding how to motivate people. So he's got various different perspectives on this.

He's always continued to learn about that sort of thing. So he's a fascinating person to talk to.

And it's just interesting to talk to someone that you know. How often do you interview someone

that you've known for a while? Because you would ask them things as an interview. You would never ask

them when you see them socially. So I'll find out a whole

load of stuff about Greg that I didn't know, but he's such an impressive guy, so reasonable

and rooted as I think a lot of people who have that political experience are, and that specific

experience of election organising. And we talk about the fact that the head of number 10 is a former organizer.
