This episode of the political party is sponsored by Cancer Research UK. In the past 50 years,

0:08.1

the incredible work of Cancer Research UK has helped a double cancer survival in the UK. As an

0:14.1

organisation, one of their policy objectives is to engage, inform and improve people's

0:19.1

understanding of cancer and health. Their work has saved countless

0:22.6

lives and brought hope to so many, but they're not stopping there. Every day they are pushing

0:27.4

the boundaries of science and technology, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer

0:32.8

to save even more lives in the years to come. As you're probably aware, last year I was diagnosed

0:37.8

with cancer. I had a very rare form of bone cancer called a cordoma that only one in a million

0:42.1

people get. I had the base of my spine removed. And the main thing is I feel very lucky to be

0:47.9

alive and to have paid a relatively small price for having had major surgery. I've got a colostomy

0:53.6

bag and I have to catheterise,

0:55.0

but I still think they are small things really in the grand scheme. But imagine I didn't have to go

0:59.8

through that. Imagine there was some other way to either prevent or treat that tumour without having

to have pioneering surgery. I could have had something else. And I'm lucky. I can't myself very lucky that it was

1:12.1

found early and that it was removed and that I'm still alive. But the work that Cancer Research

1:17.2

UK does may one day mean that people who have my sort of cancer don't have to go through that.

1:22.8

Central to Cancer Research, UK's mission is their life-saving community of over 800,000 monthly supporters.

1:30.0

These dedicated individuals are making a real difference by helping to fund vital research

1:35.1

into cancer prevention, detection and treatment. With every donation, big or small, you'd be helping

1:41.8

to ensure that the next breakthrough is just around the corner.

1:44.8

It's these monthly donations that enable Cancer Research UK to continue their work,

1:50.0

transforming the future for those affected by cancer. Imagine a world where cancer is detected
