Hello and welcome to the political party today's guest is Matthew McGregor

CEO of 38 degrees the online campaigning platform and they've changed the way

that they do things.

It's the first thing I ask him, but depending on your experience of 38 degrees as a

listener to this podcast, it may be generational.

You either think they're a wonderful thing or you might think they've been the bane of your inbox if you work in politics,

but they've changed the way that they do think, they've moved with the times.

And it's fascinating talking to him about how 38 degrees works, why it picks the causes that it picks, what its relationship

with the future Labour government will be, but also his career is

fascinating and he worked for Blue State Digital and Baruch Obama and Ed Millerbands when

Ed was leader of the Labour Party in that 2015 general election and he's got

fantastic stories from all those but what is brilliant and I don't want to ruin the moment is really what got him started in all this.

Really was a bit of a chance. He took a bit of a chance when he was working for John Crudas, a labor MP.

And it's just such a great life lesson. So there's tons of stuff in this that you will absolutely enjoy. And just what is, I kind of guess a sort of progressive's view of where

labour's headed as well but a lot of this is is brilliant stuff about why

online campaigning works in particular places for particular people and the power of it or not depending on the cause and the individual.

So it is just a fantastic conversation about all those things. I'm returning to

stand-up comedy. I'm delighted to say I will be doing the Edinburgh Festival this

summer and I will be playing the Soho Theatre to warm up for that from the end of May.

So from the 28th of May to the 1st of June, I'm doing five nights at the Soho Theatre.
