Hello and welcome to the political party. The last of the specials recorded live in the

West End is with Jess Phillips and this is an absolute treat. This is so funny. Jess Phillips

is one of the funniest people I think I've ever met and this is just pure raucous fun.

There is some politics in there, some really good social analysis. Some of these stories,

I don't even want to hint at them because if I hint anything, I will give a crucial bit

of information away that will then ruin the surprise. But there's a story about our brother.

you've seen them and keep them coming in, but if you've embarrassed yourself in front of

them, that makes for a far better story. And Christopher from Australia has been in touch.

You know, Christopher, Australia, right? He's been in touch. He says,

I've had 20 years ago when I was in university, I also joined the Australian Labour Party.

Uh oh. He says I did a lot of the usual leafletting stuff, but had little to do with actual

politicians. Anyway, one of the politicians, Cheryl Kernot, was giving a speech at Australian

Parliament House and I was invited. Kernot was a former leader of a rival party,

the Australian Democrats, was a good performer when it came to meet your interviews.

I was quite a forceful interrogator in parliamentary committees, but I was mostly going to the

function because there was going to be free alcohol. I was a broke uni student after all.

Oh, the full boating, the sense that I have of dreads, Chris, at the start of this story.

He says I can't remember much about the speech she gave that night, partly because it wasn't

very good, but mostly because I was drunk and it dragged on for over an hour.
