talk about other areas of the financial world so that we can hopefully help you

do money better and today we have Dave Meyer and he's the host of Bigger

Pockets on the market podcast which focuses on trends in real estate as well as

the larger economy and helps people make better investing decisions.

He's the vice president of data analytics at bigger pockets

than he has been investing in real estate for over a decade now.

I'm excited. This is great. I'm really happy to be here. Thanks for having me.

So tell us this, how did you get started in real estate?

Like what was the journey?

How was this the thing that you landed in

that you became the expert on?

Well, it did happen somewhat serendipitously.

So I graduated college in 2009, which if you remember,

was not a very good job market.

Back then, it had the very nice distinction of being the worst job market, I think since the Great Depression.

Solid.

I think the class of 2020 has now taken that over from us, but I was just trying to find a way to make money and at

first I was I moved to Denver and was waiting tables and a friend of mine back then told me he was buying these like duplexes in

Denver using these tax credits and really not putting a lot of money down and
