Russia is winning.

The Russians used a combination of drones and cruise missiles,

one of them hitting a hydroelectric dam north of the capital Kieve.

This attack shows signs the Russian assaults are getting ever more sophisticated and more accurate.

Ukraine is desperate to change the game and it has an idea of how to do that.

Last month it invaded parts of Russia, the first time that it happened since the Second World War.

Now it's asking its allies in the West for permission to do something

that so far Washington and London have been dead against.

Something that would take the war to Russia in a way that it hasn't experienced before.

If this decision is made, it will mean nothing other than direct participation of NATO countries

in the war in Ukraine.

And this, of course, significantly changes the very essence of the conflict.
