And today we are debating a choice that has to be made to indict Donald Trump or not.

All summer we have seen the Congressional Committee investigating the January 6 attack,

making the case they say that the former president committed serious felonies around that

day and around an effort in the weeks before that to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

And they have been presenting evidence. They've been bringing in eyewitnesses in person.

They've been showing testimony through deposition. They've been sharing texts and emails and

videos. Evidence. They have gathered it. They have organized it. And now what is supposed

to happen? What is the calculation to be made by the nation's top law enforcement team

at the Department of Justice? Indite, Trump, and prosecute him? What if they do and what

if they lose? Or for that matter, what if they do and what if they win? Or the other option,

do not indict Trump. Let him off. And what would be the lasting impact of that inaction?
