the Learned Jazz Standards podcast and another week here on the show. Really excited to be here

Do you think it's necessary for a musician looking to learn improvisation to learn how to play

the piano, even if it's not their primary instrument?

And if yes, how should they go about it?

Great question. So piano is one of those instruments that is really useful for understanding

music and harmony and how it works. And as a guitar player, not a piano player, the reason that I think that is because

the piano really has everything laid out very clearly in front of you. And I'm comparing that a bit

to a guitar, for example, because a guitar is not so clear. Like once you understand how it works and you you know slowly but

surely map out the entire fretboard like yeah things become more apparent and clear now i've heard

...
