Dr. Bernard, a friend recently shared with me a article that has a very provocative title.

The article was titled, One Quarter of Young Americans Cut Off Their Parents and Call It Boundaries.

The article notes I'm quoting directly from it. It says the most

recent data shows that 38% of American families report at least one family member estranged from the

rest. About one in four adult kids has reportedly gone no contact with a parent. The person who

shared this article with me, their brother is a pastor, and this

pastor is also a trained counselor, does a lot of counseling, and he noted that this trend

seems to be affecting apostolic families as well as secular families. So I'm bringing this up because

I'd like to know, does the Bible support this practice of cutting

ties with your Christian parents? We're talking specifically about Christian families here.

Would there be any scriptural support for this practice? And I think I would like to note,

just for the sake of the audience, that I'm not asking for a friend. I have a good relationship

with my family and plan on seeing them actually before the

week is out.

So all is good with my parents and mom and dad, I'm not planning on cutting you off.

The baseline, one of the Ten Commandments is to honor your father and mother.

And that is immoral in nature.

It's still in force for Christians. Jesus himself reiterated that. When the rich young ruler
