Hello from Greater Washington area. I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cats. Depending

on when you're listening to this, the White House coronavirus task force is either being

wound down, or it's back on and ready to go. A Tuesday, President Trump announced that

the Mike Pence lead group would close shop by the end of May, but on Wednesday, he announced

on Twitter that the group would continue indefinitely. Before reversing himself, the President

conceded ABC News that there will be more death as the country moves forward with economic

reopening. It's possible there will be some because you won't be locked into an apartment

or a house or whatever it is, but at the same time, we're going to practice social distancing.

We're going to be washing hands. We're going to be doing a lot of the things that we've

learned to do over the last period of time. And we have to get our country back.

As we wrote Wednesday and 1st read, the White House appears to be waving the white flag

in the fight against the coronavirus. Yes, he's surrendering. Even if the President is

reversing himself again, and the task force is focused clearly is on what comes next.

My guest today are Wana Summers, political reporter for MPR covering demographics and culture.

Cast. So Wana Summers, am I being, are we being a little harsh by saying it appears

that the President is essentially surrendering to the virus?

You know, look, the President has, has been out. He's clearly eager to get out and resume

his normal activities. We see him planning trips, such as the trip he took yesterday.

He's clearly indicating that his focus is less right now based on his words and his actions

on the response to the virus and more so on the so-called reopening of the economy.
