For years, Alex Jelinek tried to figure out how to turn his passion for helping people into a

career of service.

First, he went to school to become an emergency medical responder,

one step below a primary care paramedic.

But before getting employment in that field, he switched directions

and started working in law enforcement.

He landed a job for CPIC, the Canadian Police Information Center,

which is operated by the RCMP's National Police Services Program. It's Canada's only

national information sharing system, linking law enforcement and other public safety partners across the

country.

CIPIC shares things like permanent records for people who are arrested, charged, or convicted of a crime.

The public can also access some information from this government agency to find out if a vehicle or bike might be stolen.
