attended a Baptist church in North Carolina that is affiliated with the SBC. Shannon is a gifted,

passionate, and godly woman.

She's not afraid to ask herself and others tough but thoughtful questions.

And when she began a personal journey to understand more about women's roles throughout the history of the Bible and the global church,

she found a freedom that unleashed her talents.

But that freedom was not welcomed by her church.

And with each step forward that Shannon personally made,

her church became more resolute in its stance,

and unwilling to look outside its own doors, ask questions of itself, its institution,
