Hey everybody this is Hal Herring with uh backcountry hunters and anglers podcast and

blast. Um, this is an introduction I wanted to do so I wouldn't use up valuable time in our conversation

later with Shane Patrick Mahoney.

For those who don't know Shane he is probably I first knew him as a lecturer

on conservation issues and hunt and especially the role of hunting

and the North American model that sounds duller than it is.

Shane is one of the most dynamic speakers and

advocates for hunting and wildlife in North America if not the world.

Just he is a zoologist by training who has spent literally decades out on the landscape in close interaction and study of wildlife.

And he is a proud son of St. John's, Newfoundland, where he grew up hunting fishing and foraging.

We talk about that a little bit.

But I just wanted to, I wanted to make sure that folks knew kind of the import or the impact of

of what Shane has done in the hunting and conservation community in both Canada and the United States and the world.

I am super, super lucky to have caught up to him in this shot show at Las Vegas.

And as always, I was was I listened with wrapped attention to Shane. He is one of the

most informed and deeply passionate voices in in our community that I've ever found that I've ever known and I feel

extremely lucky to have been able to do this interview.
