I'm Izin Akabaul, in for Hannah Joel. It's Tuesday, April 21st. Let's get you caught up with

today's seven stories. Number one, Iranian officials threatened not to attend peace talks

with the U.S. this week. The U.S. Iran ceasefire

is set to expire tomorrow. Both sides have expressed support for negotiating an end to the war,

but they have continued to escalate a standoff around the Strait of Hormuz. The critical waterway

has emerged as a central issue in peace talks, and over the weekend,

the US seized an Iranian flagged vessel, which officials said was trying to bypass a US blockade

in the strait. That angered Iranian officials. Peace talks were planned in Pakistan this week,

with Vice President J.D. Vance leading the U.S.

delegation. Yesterday, a spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry said Iranian officials were yet to

decide whether to attend the new round of talks.

The Labor Secretary, Lori Chavez-Darima, resigned following allegations of misconduct.

That's number two.

Yesterday, Chavez-Durima became the third cabinet member to depart during President Donald

Trump's second term. The White House said Chavez

DeRima would take a position in the private sector, though it's not clear exactly where

she's going. Chavez De Rima had faced accusations that she used taxpayer-funded trips for personal

travel. That complaint surfaced sexual misconduct allegations against her husband, Sean

Dorema. Last week, the New York Times reported that she and her aides, as well as her father and
