Today's story displays one of the greatest acts of bravery in the scriptures.

It's a story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abindigo.

So let's jump on in, Todd.

Scene one titled Nebuchadnezzar, colon, long name, big ego.

Every story has a beginning, and this story's beginning traces all the way back to his

speech that Moses made to Israel just before he died and they entered into the promised land.

Moses warned them that if they followed God, they would be blessed. However,

if they disobeyed, they would face grave consequences. And the ultimate consequence would be captivity.

Moses described the consequence to Israel this way. In Deuteronomy 28, 49 through 50,

The Lord will bring a great nation against you from afar.

From the end of the earth and as the eagle swoops down a nation whose language you shall not

understand, a nation of fierce countenance who have no respect for the old nor show favor

to the young.

Well, Israel entered in the promised land, and our story begins

years after this speech played out. We're in the southern kingdom, that's Judah, in the year

605 BC. And at this point, Israel had repeated a pattern of disobedience to the point that God

has allowed King Nebuchadnezzar,
