This week, we're discussing the shocking murder of a 64-year-old woman in Upper Arlington, Ohio,

a case that police say was motivated by a sex torsion plot gone wrong.

Retired Ohio State University professor James S. Hill, 76 years old, has been charged with killing his wife, Mary Hill, in their home on November 9th, 2025. Wow, this is wild, Jesse. This is a

hometown case for me. This is very close. Upper Arlington UA, which is what we called it,

was very near my high school. We played them in sports.

Jeez. Yeah, let's dive in. According to investigators, James Hill fatally stabbed Mary in the chest

and then tried to kill himself, all because he believed it was the only way to escape an extortion

scheme. Court documents and police reports paint a harrowing picture. Hill had been exchanging nude

photos with a woman he met on a dating app when that woman demanded $15,000 or threatened to expose

the images. Facing this blackmail, Hill later told police he felt trapped and could only think

of one way out of the situation. Yikes, sex torsion schemes are horrible, but he needed to go to the police, obviously.

Yes.

In a desperate response to the threat, Hill allegedly decided he must eliminate any fallout

from the scandal by taking both his own life and his wife's.

Investigators say that on Sunday, James went looking for his gun at home but

couldn't find it. It had been hidden, reportedly by Mary years prior. Instead, he grabbed a kitchen

knife. Mary was working at her desk in the home office unaware of what was coming. Hill quietly

approached and began giving her a shoulder massage, a ruse to catch her off

guard. As Mary commented that it felt nice, James suddenly plunged the knife into her chest.
