So Bob, we have a bunch of emails here. Let's read them and answer them. What do you say?

0:03.8

Yes. This is the Psychology in Seattle podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Kirk Honda. I'm a therapist and

0:09.7

a professor. And who are you, Bob Gettle? I am Bob Gettle, therapist and practice here in Seattle,

0:16.0

and your old friend from school. Yeah. Old friend in two ways, both old and old. Yes, thank you.

Patron Leia says, I just listened to one of your episodes and it got me thinking that the

0:29.6

therapist client sexual boundary violations can't be that rare. I remember you cited a study that

0:35.2

said 10% of therapists have had sex with their clients. And I just looked up today that it's

0:40.8

9% of male therapists have acted on their sexual attraction to clients from a 2016 study. That's

0:46.8

one in 10. And these are just the ones that who report it. I feel like this is a much bigger problem

0:53.7

than we even know. What do you think, Bob? What do you think? You know, I have no idea. I find

0:59.7

that whole idea of heart. Yeah. It's hard to imagine anybody I know. I know somebody in that way.

1:06.9

I know. So that's the thing for me is, you know, I've over the years because people have emailed

1:11.6

in about this. I have looked up the stats and I remember the impression I got from all the

1:19.6

statistics was that there's a much bigger problem in the past. 50 years ago, our ethics and

1:26.0

professionalism wasn't what it is today. And there was like, I mean, even in the beginning of

1:32.0

psychoanalysis, they're like half of the half of the major psychoanalysts like had sex with

1:37.8

their clients even married some, you know, but Fadenzi, Karen Hornai,

1:42.0

Jung was implicated. And so it was a progression into the current times, which I thought was much more

1:54.8

professional and much more buttoned up. But so I think sometimes on the podcast, I'll say like,

2:00.7

well, it's pretty rare these days. But I looked back at the stats and I thought I'd give you a

2:07.2

little quiz, Bob, what do you say? I'm going to fail it. But before going into that, I do want to

2:13.5

reflect what you're saying, which is that if you just asked me without the stats before me, I would
