And if you're new here, welcome. For today's episode, I really hit the books, probably more than I have for any girls' camp episode ever,

because we are tackling a very rich, very interesting topic, which is the similarities

between severance and the world of Lumen, as portrayed in the TV series Severance,

and Mormonism slash high- high demand religions slash cults,

though we will be focusing mostly on Mormonism. If you haven't heard of severance, it just

ended its second season. It's an Apple TV Plus series and it is really phenomenal. I feel like

the whole internet is talking about severance right now,

and many of the people talking about severance are noticing a lot of similarities with

cults, high-demand religions, and Mormonism. As an ex-Mormon watching the series, I loved it

for so many reasons, but I do feel like the themes that it explores, as well as

actually quite a few specific moments, really reminded me of what it was like to be Mormon,

what it was like to deconstruct Mormonism. It was just very, very relevant. And I think

that's the case for a lot of us. As I was researching

for this episode, kind of pulling together these similarities, it just kept going. I just kept

finding more and more thoughts and opinions and noticing certain things, and I just cannot wait

to get into it with you. I'm going to start out by giving a brief
