The reason I did it is because we have someone on today that I feel like is going to be critiquing because

he's a storyteller voice inflections. I want to make sure I'm pronunciating, whatever it may be, Gene. I'm just trying to, I'm trying to step up my game here. So thanks for asking me how I'm doing, Gene. I'm always making a happy big man.

And today we have a very special guest. Today's guest is an international bestselling author and co-founder of Speak Up when he isn't teaching at Yale, MIT, or his elementary school.

He also coaches on public speaking, storytelling, and marketing strategy.

I like how you spoke so quickly that I actually can't critique anything you said because I did not

understand a word that you said. I'm going to do it again and go quicker next time. I thought I slowed

down. Gino understood it,

Please share with us your background and how you got started in this speaking game. Sure. Well,

you know, it was accidental, to be honest with you. I've been teaching elementary school for 25 years

and I write novels.

And there's an organization called The Moth, which in 2011 was sort of producing a podcast.

My friends started listening to the podcast. It's true stories told on stage without notes.

And in New York at the time, and they still do today, they had a competition.
