But we all benefit from setting goals from time to time, whether now or later.

The most common New Year's goals include exercising more, eating healthier,

handling money better, and spending more time with family and friends. Maybe you've set goals

in one of those areas. But what about your sexuality? Do you have any goals in that area of your

life? You might want to increase the frequency of lovemaking in your marriage, try a few

new things, figure out how to reach orgasm more consistently, or just learn to communicate

better about the topic. Those are all great goals. However, we like to start with you individually,

which is why I didn't mention goals for your marital intimacy, but rather used the word sexuality.

It's a good idea to evaluate where you are right now regarding your sexuality.

How do you feel about your body?

Do you appreciate it, feel in tune with it, or need to address some obstacles keeping you from

feeling all the pleasure you could have during sex?

Do you have sexual baggage

that has burdened you long enough? Do you feel ready to address that baggage, possibly with the

help of a counselor? Have you figured out what you want sexually? And likewise, what you don't want.

Do you have a balance of openness to sexual experience and healthy boundaries for what you won't do?

Do you view sex as a gift from God? Experience a spiritual connection when making love with your husband or need to work out a theology
