we think about various types of dogs the canine family all All kinds of desert dogs from the furious pit bulls chasing joggers down giant rock road

to those strange little animals sitting on laps outside at L'Aucine.

to the poor gray fox run over on Altamoma.

Poor little critter in the road.

And the coyotes, of course.

I know there are coyotes even in Chicago now in our times,

but the song of the coyote will always belong to the desert, the great North American desert.

New York had punk rock and hip-hop. Chicago had rhythm and blues.
