Transmitting from the Mojave Wilderness in Joshua Tree, California, now is the time for Desert Oracle Radio, the voice of the desert.

It is nighttime and this is the Mojave Desert.

I will never forget it.

That's something you'll hear, something you'll hear quite a lot out here.

I know what I saw.

Do they know? Do you know? I know that I've seen a few things over the years, a few

things I will never forget, enough to keep me looking up at the night sky, which is beautiful

and mysterious enough on a normal night.

A normal night with the Milky Way spilling across a wide open desert sky.

But I don't really know what I saw.

An alien spaceship?

That's a popular theory over the past century or so. an alien spaceship.

blame H.G. Wells.

Blame the 19th century astronomer who thought he saw artificially constructed canals on the surface of Mars.

Blame the science fiction writers, the movies.

You see a blinding white light on the horizon, a light that throbs like something alive,

and this attracts your attention, this weird glob of light

bewitches you entirely.

And maybe an entity of some kind appears later and it gazes right into your soul.

A being of pure light, it might be wise and kindly, it might be terrifying, it might be

all of this at once.
