Guidelines for The Surrender Novena (9 consecutive days of prayer for special intentions)--

Start each day of the challenge by setting a clear intention. This could be a specific prayer request or a personal goal. Then, surrender even that to Jesus, asking Him to guide your prayers and intentions. 

Find a place to pray consistently-- same time and place--every day. 

Choose your prayer posture (seated, legs folded, kneeling, sitting, etc), and stick with it! I kneel! 🧎🏾‍♀️

Choose an item to have with you while praying (rosary, mala, bible, picture, painting, etc.) so that even when not in formal prayer, you can grab or glance at it and be reminded of what's True. I keep a rosary and a small Bible (also an image of the Black Madonna of Poland) with me.  It is believed to have been painted by St. Luke on a wooden tabletop carved by Jesus. It was while Luke was painting Mary that she told him about the events in the life of Jesus that would eventually end up in his gospel. (source: @EWTNmedia)

No gossiping, complaining, excessive talking, or scrolling during these nine days. Also, catch yourself when you're judging or trying to manipulate or control what's beyond your control, like other people. Let them be them, and let God be God. 

FORGIVE EVERYONE, including yourself. We work on that in this episode. 

Optional- Fast from a certain food or drink during these nine days.

Help me to become perfectly receptive as a pure child. Help me to believe in your love for me. Help me to hope in your love. Help me to receive from the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus all grace and virtues necessary for me to become the person you created me to be. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Your son, God Almighty Father.
