Good Monday morning. I'm Anna Palmer and welcome to your Politico Playbook audio briefing.

The New York Times came out last night with a bombshell report on Trump's tax returns.

The story reports that Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency and another $750 during his first year

as president, and that he had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years.

Further, the report details how Trump's finances are under stress, particularly with an IRS fight

over the legitimacy of a $72.9

million dollar tax refund, he claimed, and received after declaring massive losses.

Trump responded to the report in a Sunday evening news conference calling it totally fake news

and made up.

To give a sense of how absolutely crazy this election is shaping up to be,

Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent an email to her House colleagues Sunday afternoon,

urging Democrats to focus on flipping House state delegations

in case neither Joe Biden nor President Donald Trump wins an electoral college majority in the election.

In that case, the Constitution says the election goes to the majority of House delegations.

Congress is scheduled to certify the results and vote if no one has a majority on January 6th.

on Little Rock broadcast.
