Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-auth, Eugene Daniels. It is Friday, September 27th. Here is what's driving the day.

First up, Vice President Kamala Harris is headed to the small town of Douglas, Arizona that sits at our southern border with Mexico. It'd be her first

visit to the border as the nominee for president. Unsurprisingly, her remarks are focused on

immigration and the border. Her aides say she's going to continue to call for tougher border

security measurements while also, quote, decrying Donald Trump's failures as president

to address this challenge and his recent efforts to kill bipartisan solutions to it.

One of the things that Harris is planning to say, according to remarks, is, quote,

the American people deserve a president who cares more about border security than playing

political games. AIDS also say Harris is going to argue that American sovereignty requires setting rules at the

border and enforcing them, that border patrol agents need more resources to do their jobs,

to stress the importance of combating the flow of fentanyl into the country across the border,

and to, quote, reject the false choice between securing the border and creating an immigration system that is safe, orderly, and humane.

Most of that is a pretty different way that Democrats have been talking about immigration for years, including President Joe Biden.

In conversation with Harris, allies, and AIDS, what we've been told is that they feel like this is a message that resonates with the American people.

They point to the fact that on immigration, Harris has been able to slash Trump's lead by more than a third in some pollings and in others by 40% since she became the nominee.
