ground has shifted quite drastically on impeachment. The operative question seems to have shifted

from will the Democrats impeach Trump to when will they impeach the president? And what

approach will they use to begin those proceedings? Perhaps the clearest sign of the shifting

dynamics is what Speaker Nancy Pelosi's closest allies are saying. Yesterday, after news of the

conversation between the Ukrainian president and President Donald Trump broke, Connecticut Representative Rosa DeLaro,

one of the speaker's closest allies and friends, said that, quote, an impeachment inquiry may be the

only recourse Congress has if the president is enlisting foreign assistance in the 2020 election.

Congress must meet this pivotal moment in our nation's history with decisive action.

Debbie Dingle, congresswoman from Michigan, put it this way. This country is divided. We cannot be

divided on the rule of law. As an elected official, my oath is to protect national security

and the Constitution. After the recent revelations, I support an impeachment inquiry because we must

follow the facts and hold the president accountable. Another sign, seven seat flipping frontline

Democratic freshmen with backgrounds and national security published an op-ed in the Washington

Post, saying if these allegations are true, we believe these actions represent an impeachable offense.

It's not quite calling for

impeachment, but it's showing openness to it, and that is new. The leadership has said they were

holding off an impeachment to protect these frontliners who are now showing they don't need
