Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook Deputy Editor Zach Stanton. It's Friday, September 20th,

and here's what's driving the day. Last night in Michigan, Kamala Harris sat down for a campaign

event slash town hall slash interview with Oprah Winfrey, which is notable coming as Harris

continues to be dogged by suggestions that she doesn't sit for meaningful interviews with news outlets

and the related suggestion that there is still quite a lot that some voters would like to know about

her. This was a chance to fill in some of those blanks. Also notable is that the sit-down came in Oakland County,

the suburban Detroit powerhouse that was once a GOP stronghold, it's where Mitt Romney grew up,

but has become a huge source of Democratic votes in statewide elections, and Democrats there

are looking to really drive up the margins so that they can combat any Trump turnout elsewhere in the state.

Meanwhile, Republicans have been centering their attention as of late on Nebraska,

where there's a national coordinated effort to get the state to change the way it allocates

electoral votes just weeks ahead of Election Day.

They're betting that they can change the state to

win or take all, potentially depriving Harris of an electoral vote in Omaha, and effectively

killing a few of her paths to 270 electoral votes. Now, Maine has threatened to do the same

thing if Nebraska does, a sort of red state, blue state, tit for tat. But there's a problem of timing. In Maine,

a bill only becomes law 90 days after it's passed, unless the bill receives a two-thirds vote

in each chamber. Now, Democrats in Maine currently have majorities in each state legislative chamber,

which means that they can't bypass that

90-day rule.
