In this episode, Joel and Antonia unpack the old stereotype that sensors are "basic" while intuitives are somehow the upgraded version, and they trace where that bias comes from and why it's flawed. They dig into why Myers-Briggs gives intuition a special weight by naming it directly, why so many sensors end up mistyping as intuitives, and how the world is shifting away from being built for either type. The conversation closes on a bigger idea: as technology pushes everyone toward more intuitive, pattern-based thinking, sensing wisdom and staying grounded in physical reality may matter more than ever.

The stereotype is that sensors are basic and intuitives are awesome.

Sensing wisdom tells you that we need to be in a sympatico with our environment.

0:07.3

We need to attune to the things that have always been healthy for us and regulate our bodies and our experiences.

0:12.6

The attunement back with reality.

0:15.7

The, oh yes, human bodies need to be surrounded by trees on a regular basis.

0:20.2

We need to touch water. You wouldn't regular basis. We need to like touch water.

0:22.1

You wouldn't think it, but this is actually sensing wisdom. We aren't honoring the wisdom of sensing.

0:27.4

I would hesitate to call it basic. It's basic in that it's fundamental.

Welcome back to the Personality Hacker podcast. My name is Joel Mark Witt. And I'm Antonio Dodge. All right, Antonio, I have a little bit of confession time for you. Okay. I have to, well, I think it's a good thing because I've changed my mind over time in a more positive way. Okay. But I'm going to confess something that, I don't know, might be triggering to somebody listening or watching. I don't know. Potentially, I used to think... How dare you? Sorry, go ahead. Well, have you ever had thoughts? You've, like, updated and changed? Yeah, of course. Okay. So this is one of mine. Okay. I used to think that sensors in the Myers-Briggs system had a more basic, like, life or experience or frame of life

or expectations than intuitives.

1:18.7

Are you saying that sensors is a basic?

1:21.6

Not exactly that.

1:23.0

That was my view before.

1:24.8

Yeah, it was like, it was almost like a sensor is like a basic human. Right. And it's good. And then like intuitives are humans plus. Like it's the, it's the plus subscription. Right. It's like the upgrade or the upgrade. Disney Plus or Netflix Plus or whatever the plus is. Yeah. I think it's all gone now. All the plus stuff. We're dating this episode, aren't we? But I think that's kind of how I, I represented it to

1:45.4

myself, maybe 15 years ago. Like when we first started doing this kind of stuff, I was like, okay, yeah, sensors are cool. They're like the basic operating systems of humans. And then, but intuitives are kind of like, and because we're plus, we miss some of the basic stuff. So we have some limitations because we went up.

2:01.2

But there's like extra to us and we're

2:03.2

more creative and we're plus, we miss some of the basic stuff. So we have some limitations because we went up. But there's like extra to us. And we're more creative and we're more imaginative. And we're more. Yeah. Not necessarily outgoing or risk taking. But we're like more on the edge, the tip of the spear of what's coming into the future. That's right. All these things. Right. And that's been definitely changed over the last 50. I definitely think of this very differently over the last 15 years. Well, I have a confession to make too then in the same vein. Before you do that, I just want to know if you're listening and you're watching, do you have a similar pattern or something that you've had in your life where you've thought this about sensors or intuitives one way or the other. Do you have something around this?

2:36.2

Love to hear it in the comments below this episode.

2:37.1

All right, go ahead and tell you.

2:41.0

Many moons ago when I first learned type, I had the exact same thought.

2:41.5

Okay.

2:45.5

Which is like, like, sensors are the worker bees of reality and intuitives.
