On Sunday, 10 Republican senators announced plans to release a counterproposal to President

Biden's $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan with a $600 billion relief package of their

own. The senators led by Maine Senator Susan Collins,

requested to meet with President Biden, saying their proposal was in response to President

Biden's calls for unity. This move comes as top Democrats have stated their willingness to use

what's called budget reconciliation to bypass the Senate 60

votes threshold and avoid a filibuster in order to pass the president's sweeping coronavirus

relief plan that would include $1,400 stimulus checks and a $15 minimum wage.
