Earlier this week, my colleague, Dasha Burns spoke with Jacelle Federer, life of the

Democratic Senate candidate, Pennsylvania, John Federer.

Dasha asked whether Federerman who suffered a stroke days before the state's primary was

up to the job of being in the United States Senator.

Well, here's what Jacelle said, quote,

we'll lead a long, healthy life if he does what he's supposed to, to which he is committed

to do it.

Well, my guest today can say a little bit more about what it's like to survive a stroke

and to serve in the United States Senate.

My guest today is Senator Chris Van Hollen, Democrat from Maryland, in mid-May.

Van Hollen suffered a stroke while giving a speech, fortunately.

He was told there would be no long-term damage from the incident and a week later he was back

home.

We should point out that the causes of the strokes for Senator Van Hollen and for John Federerman

appear to be different.

But obviously we really want to understand is, you know, what happened, how you recover

and how you can get back to work in the United States Senate.
