So tonight really in a nutshell is going to be some thoughts about emotions and emotions

in practice.

Favorite story of mine is about, I have so many heroes in psychology, one of them Heinz-CoHOT, psychologists in Chicago, one of the most important figures

in discerning the treatment for narcissism.

But anyway, he was in psychoanalysis

for a long time learning to uncover the early childhood patterns that essentially

motivated his behaviors.

And he said that all the interpretations were correct and all the

interpretations only made him feel worse about himself.

And that clearly wasn't the goal.

What he said he wanted was simply a therapist

who would simply point out the resilience that was in him as part of his, I don't want to be

too wrapped about the words, but you could say some like core or some vital resilient quality

in him that allowed him to survive the pains of his

child that allowed him to persevere, become a famous psychotherapist,
